East Africa's new oil refinery in Lamu, backed by Aliko Dangote and valued at over KSh 2.2 trillion with KSh 21 billion in government seed capital, is set to begin construction by the end of September 2026 and be completed within three years. It will process 700,000 barrels of oil daily, serving eight countries across East and Central Africa.
